The widget is designed so that you do not need to mention it in a cookie banner. It sets no cookies and creates no identifier that could follow a person between sites or sessions.

What we never receive

  • No IP address is stored. Like any web request, the visitor's address reaches our servers: we use it to deliver the files and, as a keyed hash held only in server memory for at most 24 hours, to count a page view once and to limit abuse.
  • No cookie, no localStorage identifier, no fingerprint.
  • No page URL, page title, referrer or query string.
  • No form contents, no keystrokes, no session recording.

What stays in the browser

The visitor's own preferences are kept in their browser under the keys siteaccessible:state and siteaccessible:position, so their settings survive a page change. That data never leaves the device. Settings saved under the older keys a11yMenuState and a11yButtonPosition are carried over once and removed.

Turning analytics off

Usage analytics is on by default for a new site. Switch it off in the site's settings, under Usage analytics, and the widget stops reporting panel opens and adjustments: those charts stay empty.

Two kinds of request remain, whatever the setting. The widget still reports one anonymous page-load count per page view, which we need to meter your plan and to confirm the installation; and the browser still fetches the widget's own files — the script, and a font file when a visitor picks the dyslexia-friendly font. Each of these carries the visitor's IP address in transit, as every web request does. Mention the widget in your privacy notice on that basis.
